I've got an Evolution R255SMS sliding mitre saw. It came with the standard multi material blade which is ok but probably getting a bit worn. I was going to replace it with the steel version but some shocking reviews on Amazon. I'm only cutting light box (25x25x2mm etc) - worth getting the metal blade or just stick another multi material one on there?

I don't use one of these, but I too have seen mixed reviews on the blade. From what I gather it all depends on how you use the saw, and if you do a lot of cutting across flat surfaces and/or press the blade down hard, it'll wear fast.

that's how I killed the blade in mine. 0.5mm the blade grabbed the metal and it a chipped a tooth. I've tried the cheap one's a complete waste of time

Not since I got a band saw but prior to that all I used was the standard type blade, same as the one that originally came with the saw. It was mostly used for cutting up Unistrut prior to going on site so accuracy was never an issue and I am enjoying not having to collect all those little metal chips which fly everywhere.
