has any one used these, are they any good?
theres about 4 different models,
it gives the sizes but in what? cutting 4" wood is a big difference to cutting
4" steel!
I've got the rage 3 slideing mitre saw, cut's angle and box, biggest bar to date 20mm. and 4x4 wood etc. I not had any problems with it, although when cutting metal the chip's go flipin every where!!!! so ALWAYS use safety goggles etc and ear defenders its quite loud....gloves stop lots of tiny very hot bits (and very sharp!) giving you pain!
Only one gripe, the clamp is only really any good on wood, for smaller sections you'll need to work out a better way to hold it still.
IMHO great for diy or hobby use, don't know how it would stand up to profesional abuse? anyone?
I will say tho' It earnt back the cost of buying it very quickly (2nd job!) and now I can cut box and angle STRAIGHT Hurrah! Lazer means you get more accurate cuts to length quite quickly. better than a hacksaw/grinder any day.
just my 2p worth you understand, you're experience may differ.....

I think it's good for the money and like the fact you can cut metal and wood with it. I'd been after a mitre saw for a while and thought why buy a chop saw and a mitre saw.
My only gripes are:
the clamps aren't brilliant for steel and so needs a couple of g clamps too.
the laser is not particularly accurate, so I needed to do a lot of steel rule measuring
In steel it doesn't give a perfect flat cut, it seems to snatch a bit and leaves jagged edges. These can be filed / ground smooth, and aren't a problem where welding together.
It needs a piece of wood under any wood you are cutting to avoid it pulling a load of splinters as it goes through the wood.
I used it today.
cutting 3"x1" plate just about cut it. at half way mark the off cut bit was starting to grip the blade, cut that off with a grinder and continued cutting.I've got 5 pieces to cut.
had them cut into 4"/5" length with a burner. so I just want the edge trimmed.
will use these for packing etc on my hydraulic bender.
it'll cut 19mm round bar like butter.I'm wondering now if Rage 4 would have done the job.
this one(Rage 4) is very big.
