It is a bracket that gets welded to the underside of the stick on a excavator. It is used to anchor one end of a "dead arm". The dead arm is a large solid steel bar that is positioned between the stick and an attachment at the end of the stick, such as a pulverizer or a grapple.
This is a grapple which shows a good example of what a dead arm is....

Looks very smooth and sensibly done - more runs around the ends where the stress will be.
The welds do look smooth, but the width of that finishing weld looks too wide for it to be a straight movement. What did you do with torch movement on the way? Or is the smoothness a result of some wiggling and the great big puddle you'd have available at those settings?

Finishing weld? If you are making mention to the weld in the last pic the wider area is actually 2 more passes.
Basically the weld is 1 pass..... except on the end where it is 3 passes. On all of the welds a very slight mainpulation ( if any ) was used.

Nice to see you spaced the cheeks apart during welding The bottom profile probably shrunk slightly on the top face.
Ending up with a slightly narrower gap at the top of the cheeks else. Often see people do that.
Not a bad bit of profiling, oxy fuel?

CNC plasma gets my vote...
You say you did it with dual shield, and I don't know the Hobart excelarc wire, but is that flux core gas shield? I thought most of those wires were designed for 100% CO2 shielding?

OXY/FUEL......
I actually placed the spacers at the bottom during tacking and move them up after.... this controls the distortion better than if I had just left them just clamped low. So my spacing at the bottom is dead on and the top is out like a 1/16".
