Extra tank plumbing help

Hello I have a 47kg gas bottle going to use it as an extra tank for my 25L 2.5hp cobra compressor running 9.5cfm and 115psi

Question is do I put a t piece on the output of my compressor I know the second tank will only be at regulator pressure but I always have this on max as I have a second regulator on my airline. And basically run a single pipe from the tee into my second bottle and will this suffice

Or do I need to run a line from my compressor to a t piece on my second tank then a second line from the tee on my second tank to the tool if you know what I mean

Basically do I need a single line to the tank to act like a reservoir or do I need a flowing circuit to the second tank it's hard to explain if you get what I mean

A single line from the compressor to the tank will do it. Use decent bore pipe, 10mm.

I run a pipe from my 25L compressor into the top of a 200L tank from an old compressor,
then out of the tap on the end of the large tank to a regulator and then the hose to the tools,
i keep the regulator wound open on the compressor and adjust only the second one,

One thing i have found is the only moisture i get is from the compressor tank,
maybe because the large tank is mounted higher and the air supply hose enters at the top?

I get very little moisture at the tool end of the hose so no complaints.

Probably because your 25l compressor is working its rear end off to fill 225l @ ~120psi...!

You could adapt a hose off the drain point for ease of draining of its not easily accessible.

Ok thanks guys so a single line will be sufficient to the gas bottle and a ball valve if I want to isolate the gas bottle from my compressor

Will I get much benefit from the 47kg gas bottle I know its about 100 litres

the only benefit you will get is that you can run a higher cfm tool longer then normal, however once that extra air has gone it will take longer to refill probably about 5 times longer then just the compressor

Not sure if mine exceeds the duty cycle but when the punp kicks in at approx 90psi it takes 3 minutes to top the whole 225 litre air storage back up to 120psi,
I think my 25 litre compessor is rated at 7.8 cfm,

Whats nice about the bigger storage is you can do lots of small jobs without the compressor constantly kicking in, just the once but for longer.

Thanks for the hell guys I will be plumbing my gas bottle in next week one night and I will post my results about it. I didn't take the valve out the top I've used an adaptor to turn the left hand thread in the bottle to a 1/4bsp right hand thread which is good

I will post as soon as it's up and running.

Don't forget that you will need to have some means of draining the condensate from your gas bottle receiver, perhaps mounting it upside down and fitting a drain tap to a T piece.

I did this many years back with 47k bottle and layed it down horizontally,
Drilled/tapped the side of the cylinder and screwed in a compressor drain tap.
