Extraction for garage advice please

Hello all, can anyone give advice on cfm rating for an extractor fan for a garage of 3.6m wide by 11m long by 2.2m high, up and over and side door at one end and no other form of ventilation.
Are the nederman vacuum carts / extactor arms very good ?

What you trying to do extract the whole garage or loca task extraction? Never used a neederman fume cart but use a fair bit of there other gear and it's top rate

Hello and thanks for reply, am just wanting to get rid of the welding fumes from the local area really, don't do heavy arc welding in there just some mig and mainly tig practice but sometimes with the mig it gets a bit smokey and I don't want health problems further down the road,

We have a neederman arm job at work and it's good but placement has to be quite spot on to work best. We also use it for spraying odd bits at lunch time

Nederman fume carts are a pain in the **** IMO. They are bulky, always in the way and don't have a great deal of power in them. The filters are pricey too. I got rid of ours.
Our next doors have got a couple of the 4" Nederman extraction arms fixed to the wall but have changed the standard fan units for 8" units with the necessary reducers in the pipework. They would suck your hat off
IMO, the Nederman fan units are underpowered and noisy.

Depending on your budget, keep your eye out on ebay, or speak with your local welding suppliers to see what they offer...they will be able to get the rep from whichever extraction co they deal with round to your place and specify something which will suit.

Hi I use a centrifugal in line fan 4" connected to flexiduct with some mild tube for the end to stop it melting when welding think the flow rate is about 147m3 per hour but it pulls fumes away lovely

I had that happen in the foundry, working inside a casting cooling "coffin" walked under the ducting and my hard hat disappeared, followed a few seconds later by the sound of it being destroyed by the fan!
Went up to check the fan and apart from a few white streaks on the blades, it was OK.
