As some of you may recall, I was recently given one of these for free with a burned out motor.
I had a quick look at it today and the motor looks to be bespoke to the unit and not available. I’ve tried googling for 1400w motors but can find nothing even remotely like it. Before I skip it does anyone have any suggestions to where I could source one?

Have you checked under the heat resistant wraps covering that joint the windings to the black cables? They can burn out.

No, I've not investigated it at all, just stripped it down.
I'm told it was "burned out" but it doesn't smell too bad and there's no evidence of burning.
I didn't even plug it in as the chap who gave it to me said he'd tried it again and it was definitely bad.

no disrespect to your pal, but check it yourself. Listening to customers could easily send you in the wrong direction, what they think, and what you find aren't necessarily the same... I'd say check for yourself, 2 minutes with a multimeter will tell you a lot...

He was using it at the time and said it let out the dreaded magic smoke.

My Fein reciprocating let out magic smoke (a lot off) was the suppressor block.
There was no real indication that it cooked its self.
Then blew fuse
Normally MS has the whiff of death about it

Check the brushes are good, and move freely.

The motor looks similar to those inside cheap pressure washers.
