Fiac compressor oil in receiver - rebuild?

I have just drained my Fiac RD15150 (150l 14cfm) compressor and noticed that the oil level was down. Also cleaned the water trap filters and they are full of foamy emulsified oil.

The Airfilter is pretty much choked up on paint dust and possibly very fine abrasive medium - it was used with a blast cabinet for a couple of days (yes I know - bad maintainence).

I am guessing that the piston / rings / bore are worn? Is it worth looking into overhauling it or am I wasting my time and should get a new pump for it?

I maintain a fiac air main at work and today was it's full inspection and the inside of the tank was full or imulasifed oil. That's a new unit that has been in less than year and has been well looked after! So I wouldn't worry about it keep the oil filled up and the tank drained!

A choked air filter might tend to pull a vacuum on the pump and pull oil.

I always get a bit of oil in the water drained from my 25-year old compressor.

I'd change the oil and filter and see how it goes.

And keep the filter clean! If it's having to suck too hard through the inlet it just might draw oil mist past the rings.

Will give that a try! Have been meaning to do an oil change for a couple of weeks as its runs a lot!

At least if there's loads of oil in there it should stop it rusting from all the condensed water!
