Filler rods for this material.

Hello all, could anyone inform me of the type of filler rods I would need for these bends I have bought ? I hope to be able to tig weld these to mild steel plate.
I am not sure of the type of material, they have been purchased for an exhaust manifold project.

I might be incorrect, but they look to be plated cast, have you put a grinder to one yet?

They are cast steel , mild steel fittings for handrails and such, normal mild steel filler for the job

Many thanks, I know they look horrible but they are for a exhaust manifold for a Lexus v8 turbo and thought these would be stronger than the usual pipe bends,

If its built right they don't need to super strong, out of interest how much were they and what size ???

langy, the bends were £2 each and are 42.4mm od,

They are malleable iron weldbends commonly used in pipe fitting. I think mild steel consumables will be fine, that's what I weld them with.

I have welded "malleable iron" pipe fittings successfully with cheap, standard 6013 using an arc welder, so normal mild steel TIG filler should be equally satisfactory. I have also seem them gas welded with normal mild steel filler rods. The material looks a bit rough, due to the manufacturing process, but welds beautifully.
