Filter Regulator

I've bought an in line Filter & Regulator but cannot get my head around it. I thought it should be simple enough, Air in, filtered, Air out.

Not connected it up but blowing through the inlet I get air out of the out let BUT air out of the brass valve down the bottom. If I pull the brass plunger down it seal's but is on a spring I think and is always open. I just dont get how it works.

Its auto drain, when you have pressure in the line it will seal, and then the water will drain out when there is no pressure.

Looks like the same one that Aldi sell sometimes,theirs comes with a combined lubricator,But they are separate units just bolted together and with an "O" ring seal between.All ports are tapped 1/4" bsp, so no mods required to use as just a filter/reg

It is a cheep one made by Silverline. The small Clarke one on Machine Mart, the bottom valve looks exactly the same.

So as soon as I link it up to the compressor it should seal, just need some fitments & hoses and I am well away

Yes, it's an auto filter drain, when the unit is in the air circuit and under pressure it will seal automatically.

I have the same one and the brass valve does push down and seals. When water does gather in the trap I turn off the air feed and using a piece of wood to push the valve up and it dumps the water out.

Isn't that whats called semi automatic?
