Fire Extinguishers type and size

Hi all
I need to buy a fire extinguisher for my garage, what size and type would you recommend ?

First you need to establish what type of fire you may have to put out should the need arise.

In my garage I have a couple of power extinguishers as I think if I had a fire it would most likely involve a vehicle, chemical (petrol), or electricity. Buy I have been thinking about investing in a CO2 one a well.

Depends what you're doing. Co2 or powder covers all eventualities that you can pick up without thinking about electricity etc. Water are cheap and refillable yourself but only good for one fuel class. Powder and co2 covers a, b and c.

c02 best. powder is real messy if u have to clean up afterwards

On checking my garage it contains flammable materials ie rags, petrol and electricity
Am I right in thinking that Co2 would cover all of these?

Yes CO2 will be ok

Thanks, just ordered a 2kg co2 and a 6 litre foam!

Foam will make a really smelly mess should you ever be unfortunate enough to use it.
CO2 excellent and 1st choice for most types of fire.
For small fires of wood, paper etc, nothing beats a bucket of water

If you ever set an oil bath or similar on fire do not spray Foam straight at it, bounce it off something nearby and let it smother it.
