First go at a pure abstract form

I have always struggled with pure abstract, can never think of what to do.
Then a while back I was messing about making some herons and fitted one with virtual ripples around it's legs and did not like them.

So I yanked them off. as they came off they got twisted which I liked so I hung them on the wall. I have a collection of odd bits of stuff, pictures bits of junk. I always hang them where I can see them.

A few days back I had a bit of spare time to work on a Me project.
So I had a go at my abstract thingy.
I had some 13mm round black bar.


Chuffed to bits.
Simple and confusing.
A bit like me.
It is 1m in diameter, I might have a go at 2m version in 20mm bar.
Getting it galv'd soonish.

Cool thing about this one, it looks different and interesting from each angle it is viewed from. Nice one.

Actually I like the Heron Ripples too - (eye of the beholder and all that).

Very nice, simple but effective. I'm the same I just cant picture what to do, its funny how it came from a fixing something, so many great things come from mistakes!

I showed this one to another arty farty mate.
he said 'you are ready to do abstract stuff now' but it does not work if you cant do figurative first. Which made massive sense to me as soon as he said it.
it is great that it was from a small piece that was on it's way to the scrap bucket.

Ron the desire to touch is good (in this context at least) it means the thing has had an effect. I cant look at art and like it without wanting to touch it.

Simple and appealing, similar to some of my own which are decent sellers.
Yours are more 3 dimensional which is nice, make some mini ones that can go indoors.
A good avenue to go down I reckon.

my youngest says she likes ripples on birds legs wheres its stood in water.
took me second look to realise they do.
could maybe attach small fish somewhere so it looks like its stalkng it?

but like other one as well
