After some good advice from members on here and reading through some threads i decided to get a tec arc 166i inverter.I tried it out for the first time today with different sized rods and different amps.first off i practiced striking an arc then i tried to make some lines,the first few were terrible and i managed to blow a big hole through the metal.after i adjusted the amps and moved the rod a bit quicker they got better,not very good but not bad for a first attempt.I have included some pictures any advice or criticism would be good.Also i found the lines were slightly neater if i went around in small circles.

machine mart ones i know how crap they are i plan on getting some decent ones this week,i tried some 3.2s and some 2.5s

good rods really do help especially with inverters

keep the practice and research going and you will quickly improve.
thats not an asbestos sheet you are welding on is it? when asbestos gets hot it can explode which has obvious health implications

no luckily enough its a patio/work area,it will serves it purpose well
yes my hands do seem to shake abit i know what thats from though.I have read a few post on here about the difference between rod brands i will get some as soon as i can
