Fixed shade TIG mask

So my auto dark helmet is pretty poor.. it was cheap and cheerful and for most of my little MIG jobs it works great! However for TIG it seems to struggle.. it flashes quite a lot and I have to mess with the settings, the screen is pretty small as well which sucks and it is just generally not great.

The other day in college I thought I would try one of the fixed shade masks and it was amazing! Could see clear as day and the scree was massive! I am now thinking that I want to get one.. but which one?

Can anyone give me any advise on this? Fixed shade visor, either flippy down screen or flip down whole mask? Their are different shades right? Just need one for general TIG welding on a bench..

Fixed versus flip lens is a personal thing, the later more versatile in that if you're in a position where you can't nod the bucket down (bits of something you're welding in the way etc) you can still see what you're doing before flipping the lens

Weldequip sells a large flip lens fixed shade jobby for peanuts, UKwelder have a range of 'em. Personally i'd check out local shop first, quality of the headgear and weight being the only criteria imo. My favourite fixed shade is this one...kempi Alfa......I use a cheater lens x2 magnification ,and use an orange lens available for the lower window,allows accurate positioning,just look through the larger glass when you strike the arc
