Fliter Element?

I bought a 200ltr Ingersoll Rand compressor of Ebay for just £30 some time ago which has been under a sheet until I had a chance to get it running. The compressor runs a treat and I hope to use it for my shot blasting cabinet.

The compressor also came with an auto drain water/oil filter and the element is in dire need of replacement. The element measures 10" long and 2" wide trouble is it looks pretty old and I was wondering if I can get a replacement.

To be honest I don't know much about these filters maybe there is some kind of generic element I can buy or maybe I just need to bin the whole thing and but a modern filter?

Any suggestions as to where I might be able to buy a replacement element online would be most welcome.

Check to see if its a sintered bronze filter................if so I would say you can almost certainly clean it in some way.

It seems to be made from ceramic material. Trouble is the rubber seals that where in top and bottom have also perished but I'm guessing you would get new ones if you where able to get a replacement element.

Sand the surface with P180 to check if its sintered bronze............if so you can probably clean it no problem at all.

I can say it is not now sintered bronze. Seems to have a ceramic/asbestos like construction.

Why not replace it with a sintered bronze filter?

If I knew where to get one I might just do that. Starting to think though this filter is so old that it is simply easier to get a completely new unit.

It's a shame really because I'm sure it would work fine if I could get the parts. My compressor was made in 1965 and the filter came with it apparently which makes it over 45 years old.

bin it and get a new one i had a nice broomwade filter regulator and the filter was manky it cost me 50 quid 30 years ago parts arent available and it isnt worth bothering with
