For comparison there are similar size and quality bench drill ranging between 200 and 400 euro over here in Sardinia
I'm half interested in this pillar drill but honestly I'm little concerned about the transportation because it's practically a milling machine size drill and it's surely going to be around 700kg

That's 400 euro but, it's already few months for sale and I'm going to negotiate playing around the fact it's on the market for a long time, it's heavy, not easy to move and transport.
It has dovetails for the motor belt tensioner and this probably means CVT transmission, bot the head and the bench run up and down the square colum in a very rigid set up.
Power feed , wheel and lever manual feed on the quill.
Judging by the head sizes it probably has a gearbox for the spindle speeds to in addition to the CVT
But again it's a bulk of cast iron wich you cannot move around easily.
Not sure yet I'm probably going to have a look at it in those days

Asking prices and sold prices are completely different. Looking at asking prices on eBay and Facebook you could be forgiven for thinking it could be £400+ and unfortunately some sellers are similarly mistaken. £60 - £150 would be much more realistic. If it is MT1, no back gear, or has a very short column, it will be at the bottom end of the price range.

Good luck finding one at £60 to 100. Last one i sold (7 years ago) went for £250 & i could have sold it ten times over. Mind you it was probably unique as it had no arc of shame, a virtually unmarked table.

Single phase bench fobco star is probably the most wanted drill there is so it’s a sellers market, there was one near me recently advertised at about £300 I was tempted but didn’t really need it

I bought one a few years back on behalf of a bloke I used to do odd jobs for, it was up and running, functional if grubby looking, it was 50 quid which I thought was about right, I'd expect to pay between 50 and 100 if I wanted a similar one now I suppose. This was a bench type rather than floor standing btw
Lovely old machines, streets ahead of any chinesium crap.

Fobco made fine quality drill presses. Paying top money for a machine in very good condition is money well spent.
Don't hesitate, go and look at the machine and judge the condition for yourself before deciding what you are willing to pay.
Good Fobco machines sell fast.

how much and what do u want to spend .the price varies drastically . some folk know the prices some dont and theres some over priced krap about. there simlar to folk selling a myford and think big £££ for an oldie thats probably only worth about 400 quid topps and they want 8

Very true I went to look at a myford last year as it was only 5 minutes away but they wanted silly money for it I’d have paid around£450 but they wanted a grand

id expect it to be a super 7 with gearbox for that in reasonable condition

I paid about £250 for quite a nice one , bought from a modelmaker:

Night and day improvement over my previous Chinese bench drill, though condition was the main factor to me.

If one can accomodate a floor model, that's a very good buy for a gear head "7 Eight " at that price.
I was lucky to find an un abused 10 EIGHT, which was a simple matter to convert to single phase with a change of switch and converter.
