Ford cmax water in boot problems

As above i got water in the boot not lots but half egg cup to an egg cup full both loads but it's been happening before I got the car as the wheel is rusty not loads but some

Looking on the net looking lime the seams of the rear of the car when they get old weep and capitulate

I checked to boot seal it look good (depending on price I might change this )

I have sealed around all the ways seams rubber boots seals cheaper lights so hope I fixed it (I dout this )

Any one else on the forum have this problem and sorted it ?

Only other this I have seen in the gutter rails where you put in the roof bars but have not looked at that as don't understand where they are talking about

Water can get in lots of places...the first thing to determine is, does it leak when just standing or only when driven?

Yes.
Leak one.
Rear light seals, both had gone hard.

Leak two.
Rear window seal. That was replaced.

Leak 3.
A real Bar steward to find. Only found it by stripping the interior. The leak was found to be sun roof drain holes. If car was parked with boot down hill. The water would pool up and track rearwards.

Leak four.
Was a floor seam, it would flex and let water in.

They can be a pain to find.

Seem to remember a bulletin for this, it’s a seam that you add sealer to I think, I’ll look into it


Update, had a look, no tsb for this, I have re sealed a few of the seams at the top corner near gutter before, time to Get all the trim out and soak it with a hose etc

seen on the fourms this was a problem and jet washed last night waited till to day inthe afternoon to try and seal it

Ok spent a while last night doing some is of the seams but when got up this morning

looking like my sealing it up failed

Looked it it this morning quickly it's not coming in around the lights holes and I sealed up the seams at the top looked round the back window can't see how this would come in the window and drop down from there

My father in law had the same issue with his 05 reg c-max .
Brought new boot seal didn't stop it. After much arsing about we found it was getting in at the top of the light clusters.
He took lights out put a thin bean of sikaflex around and bolted back in job done.

its a ford ,thats what they do. i remember trying to cure a bulkhead leak on an orion in the late 80s, poor guy got so fed up with it he told us to bore a hole in the floor at least that way the water got out.

getting my ***** now cant find any thing and i cant see where its coming in as its in side the metal so no way to trace it

Any sort of vapour barrier in the boot lid? Had a BMW once that kept getting a wet foot well and that turned out to be the culprit.

Another issue I had with an old golf was the rear washer pipe work had come loose so whenever I tried cleaning the rear window the water would just dribble inside the boot lid resulting in rust around the handle - maybe something else just worth checking?

will have a look but think its coming somewhere one the right hand side of the car as you are looking at the back of the car the piller where the light fitting is but i can see the light fitting holes from in side the car and when it was raining there was not water i could see and the last pic is the piller inside the boot that its leaking from

Have you resealed the body seams around the tailgate apature from the outside?Had one that was leaking there, no point sealing on the rear as the water creeps.

i think i have yes the first pics you can see the joints i have sealed with mastic all over the back of the car near and around the boot lid this is where from looking on the net they say there are problems
