A mate wants me to convert his tractor from dynamo. The job would a lot easier if he could bring it to me, where all my tools and machines are, but that might be a hassle for him.
Is there an all-in kit available so I have everything needed to do the job at his place? It’s the Perkins 3 cyl.
Order of operations:
- Convert to negative earth (did this on my Super Dexta, just needed to spin the battery round, alter the terminals, and re-flash the dynamo. Latter won’t be needed, obviously).
- Disconnect the voltage reg/cutout, blank off terminals.
- Fit alternator (this is where the lathe/mill/welder would be handy for bushings and extended brackets).
- Run B+ to batt +, and exciter terminal to warning light.
