Free Air Delivery

Hey guys

Can some one please explain to me what it means by Free Air Delivery,

Also

Im looking into a 100 litre v twin belt driven air compressor, 162 litres per min 2.5hp motor. i can get the same one but in a 50 litre version

Im looking into gettin this for a plasma cutter so i need to no which tank would do.

FAD is what you get in the real world at a given output pressure. CFM is the volume the pump displaces.

Mine is rated at 10.9 CFM @ 90 PSI or 11.4 CFM @ 40 PSI. I think its displacement is somewhere near 14CFM (CFM is never stated on this side of the pond, it is always FAD.).

FAD is usually 80% of the CFM.
