Full or empty?.

When a compressor is not going to be used for a while is it best to leave the tank full, or empty with the drain valve open?.

leave it empty otherwise theres pressure on the non return valve. if its been drained just leave it closed

I leave mine empty

when i worked at a boat yard doing resprays we were told never to leave copressor full overnight as moisture would build up inside and can rot the tank or get the moisture coming through the spray guns.

Well I leave mine permanently on but I do use it a fair bit. I do shut off the tank outlet valve so as not to leave the flexible hose pressurised.
I drain it when I remember to, probably about once a year.
