Not sure if this is the right place but just thinking of making a space where people can share or ask for tips when using Fusion 360.
I use Fusion all the time and a lot of my use is for cutting parts out on the plasma. The Manufacturing Models> Arrange feature is very handy, I used to have to do it all manually until it was introduced and it could take quite a while repositioning parts to get them all on the same level and orientation but with the arrange it is quick and easy. Sometimes you still have to tweak things a bit to get the best use but overall it works well.
One thing however that wasn't so handy was if something would take multiple sheets of material you then had to hide components etc then make another engineering model etc etc and remembering which parts were already arranged could be a nuisance.
You can make a sketch and use that as the material which is very handy for odd shaped pieces of material left over from other jobs but you can only use one sketch so with something like the mast I am about to make it was a pain as it will need 3 sheets of 2500 x 1250mm aluminium.
As said you can use a sketch as the sheet area to be used but you can't use multiple sketches in one arrange operation. You could sketch an area the size of 3 sheets but it would then place the parts over the multiple sheets and that is no use.
So I had a wee think, what if I sketched this.
3 sheets side by side but with a difference, they are all joined by a small tab at the top basically making it one sheet but the tab bit is smaller than the spacing I have set in the arrange feature so nothing can be placed near it.
Result. Arrange now sets the parts out over the 3 sheets and I am happy as it will save a lot of time for me especially if I am trying to do it while people are in the workshop yapping away to me
I can now do a setup for each sheet and produce code for each sheet. It will be a massive time saver and hopefully may help someone else if they have the same issue.
