Garage Air Line Set Up

I have a 7m by 8m garage with my compressor housed in a smaller shed next door. I am thinking of putting a John Guest push fit couplings around the garage. I have a blast cabinet,air tools and would like to do some painting. Should I make a complete loop of the garage with drop pipes for air couplers? Is there a benefit to having it as a complete loop? I presume I would need a tap to blank off one direction if I was fitting air filters for painting as they are directional so you would need to make sure air was coming the correct way? What is the best pipe to use Aluminium,nylon or copper? Any wise words gratefully received.

For twenty odd years I worked in an area that had been divided off a much larger factory unit, the industrial 3 phase compressor that had supplied the factory was still in my shop (and regularly used by me), my shop and the entire factory had been plumbed for the compressor with umpteen couplers at appropriate spaces, malleable iron pipe and fittings had been used throughout. The pipe run was a single, not a loop.

allways take your drops from the top of the feed pipe IE go up then down, and in reality it should have a steady fall along its length and the last is a drop from the bottom ie a90 down to a drain valve so that the water run down all the way and collects at the end.

You mention Nylon pipe, so I think you know the difference, but in case someone finds this thread in the future, I'm just going to check. You mean JG air fittings not speedfit water, yes? They are different, and I'm not sure how safe the water couplings would be.

I saw those JG air fittings in the Screwfix catalogue the other day and although quite expensive I think I'll be using them when I get the chance to fit out my workshop.

Some types of plastic pipe can shatter under pressure, be sure you get stuff suitable for compressed air.
