Hi,
I have invested in one of those lateral-sliding Vertico doors for the front of my garage/workshop. Great door and I love it, but although I realised I was giving up the use of a long wall for the door to slide back against, I hadn't perhaps realised what an inconvenience it was going to be checking each time the door was opened, whether I have inadvertently put something in its path.
So, my new project is a false wall to sit in front of the door when it is open and I want this to be as narrow as possible for as much of its height as possible , as I want to be able to (in theory at least ) get a large car in on that side and the wing-mirror is the widest point.
I only actually need 50 mm between breeze blocks and the new false wall for most of the height. It will need to step out about 100mm at the bottom and 190mm at the top to allow clearance for the running gear.
At the top above the top rail I thought it might work well to incorporate a materials rack and hang the wall from it. This link is from the Vertico online brochure and shows the idea although this is a ceiling-mounted version and mine is not (see photos)

I wondered about bending 20-25mm square thin-walled tube for the uprights and infill with thin steel plate, or welded lugs and 12mm ply but the height is around 2350mm and I don't want it to be too springy.
Clearly there is also a cost implication and I don't want it to cost the earth either!
Any and all ideas, no matter how outlandish, are welcome. I'm particularly interested in what other people have done in the same situation.
Sorry some of the photos appear to be 90 degrees out of phase.
Thanks
