Garden Pond Cover / Grill

Hi all,

I thought I would give this a go using heavy weld mesh with some sort of frame ( square tube is looking favourite ).

I haven't done any welding since at college, does anyone know where to get metal supplies from in Bristol without being fleeced? !

Also, I have some curves to cope with, has anyone done anything similar using round tube and bending it ?

Hi , I saw a pond cover a while back in a front garden where we was working , the frame was all made from from copper pipe and covered in green netting , looked good and a bit like a tortoise shell , not sure how copper price would compare to steel but all the curves could be done with elbow fittings or a cheap bending spring , cross members with tee joints etc , good luck with it whatever you choose to use

i've made a couple ;used 25mm box[shs] then weld mesh,i rolled the box to the shape req' always easier than round as it does'nt twist.try Macarthur in fishponds.

Done then in 2x2 weldmesh, edged with 12mm bar in the past, worth the extra for proper hot dip galvanising imo too.
