I am hoping someone can tell me what this split collar is for in this winch, it goes between the main shaft support and sliding half clutch, used to free wheel the winch drum.
Also it is a Garwood Winch, could anyone Identify what size or have any information on it.
Being fully split I would say that it's either a fully removable spacer or a key retainer. Perhaps it's required to be removed to allow for the dog clutch to be disassembled?
Not seen one my self.
It just looks like a spacer to keep something in position?
Now on the rare occasion I can't find the info on here I try the Historic Military Vehicle Forum, very helpful
Not sure if this is the right thread, but I have a garwood olding winch on one of my 4x4 trucks. The only numbers on it are SMBD rh. 7672t. It's hydraulic, fitted on a 1989 model truck and runs about

I would try Australian off roading and military forums as I suspect they have been used on military vehicles?
