Gas supplier near Norwich Norfolk

Hi all,

I have just read though the surpliers list posting and contacted the only guy in the norfolk area (Alfie) but alas he no longer does it. I have been looking on the internet for about 1 1/2 days and many phone calls but I still can not get my bottle refilled or purchase another one (14Lb). Pure CO2 is my tipple any ideas or suggestions.

Thanks for the speedy post. These are the guys that I tried first but the guy on the phone said they longer offer this service. Bit of a blow for me really as I live about a 10mins drive away.

If Ibweld no longer offer a service "selling gas" I wish they would remove the advert from their website. I was contemplating buying a bottle from them when I next visit my brother in North Walsham.

Have you tried the guys in the industrial estate off of Guardian Road???

They are Air Products agents, but a bloody helpful bunch, if they don't, they may be able to point you in the right direction??

I can't alas remember their name!!!! if you need further details I can show you where they are on Google Earth!!

EDIT: Surprisingly (not) it's Guardian Road Industrial Estate, near the American Golf place (A140)

I phoned these guys up this morning and they are the best!!. As mentioned earlier I have been looking for days. They will fill your own bottle or supply another or do an exchange no rental just an outright purchase. The chap I spoke to was Dave and he could not be more helpful. So in short if you are in the Norwich area these guys are a must!!

i have just spoke Ibweld at north walsham on 01692 404 553 they do still supply bottles 60 pound + vat to start then 17. 25 + vat there after for a 10litre refill hope this helps

Hi Guys... must say i am surprised to see that we APPARENTLY, according to a poster on the forum stopped selling gas from ibweld.... this is absolute nonsense. we are still very much suppling gas and now supply 20 litre bottles as well as ten litre bottles. I do not know where this information was sourced but can confirm it is wrong..... we still supply always will as this part of our business has gone from strength to strength and will continue to with your support. Alfie's advice is if you do not here it from me it prob aint true...

hope the mods dont mind me asking this on here, but what would the cost of the 20 litre bottles be, and could i exchage my 10 litre towards the 20 litre?

Hi guys, With reply to IBWELD NOT selling gases, is a load of nonsense, Bought a 10ltr bottle a week ago, Talked to IAN there, could not have been more helpfull..!!!!. My bottle requirements for the next 10 years are filled, excuse the expression.... All right I have to travel to pick it up from Wisbech, but figureing the other options with BOC is definative NO GO..
I was Very Pleased with the Service I got there and so will you be...

could i trouble you guys for the telephone number of ibweld and ebs. i've just moved to the area and i'm looking for a supplier of welding gas.

while i'm here i've been offered an empty bottle filled by distiller apparently, i don't want to buy the bottle if i can't get it filled/ exchange it anywhere locally.

IB Weld's prices seem very competitive - I live near North Walsham and they were the first I visited when looking for my first mig welder - still have yet to place an order. Looking at a SWP Redline Mig 180 for £395 + VAT all-in - any thoughts on SWP?

Their gas is supplied in bottles which you lease on a 10 year right-to-use plan - £84 for a 10L bottle and £168 for a 20L bottle, then it's anything from 19.38 to £21.29 for a 10L refill, depending on the mix and £38.04 to £41.79 for a 20L refill.

These figures sound a lot better than BOC to me, but then I'm just a newbie.

We're luck to have two professional welding suppliers in this part of the world - there's also Miganglia Ltd at Southrepps. Looking at a Miller MigMatic 175 there for £660 inc VAT, but seriously considering the Portamig 185 from Weldequip because of the low 15A minimum current and general enthusiasm for the brand on this forum.

Miganglia are on 01263 834865 - www.miganglia.co.uk. They also get 2nd hand machines in and refurb them and resell with 3 mths warranty so I am waiting to see if they are going to get some 181 Migatronic units in shortly.

It's a minefield out there for the uninitiated, guys, it really is, but I am very glad to have found this great forum.
