At an entrance to an underground mine that I explore there is a gate that some dumb**** has cut through.
(Just why someone would go to all that effort to gain access, when all the lock is, is just a 17mm allen bolt and there is a "key" in the pub 30secs up the road.....durrrrr!)
It is made from thick angle and 20mm re-bar and they have hacksawed through one of the re-bar lengths, it's also galvanized.
So it's intended to repair it by welding in another bit of steel bar.
If I grind off the galvanize is there anything I should be aware of like noxious fumes?
Also to stop it going rusty I'm going to bung Hammerite on it, unless there is some sort of other spray on galvanize type stuff?
Cheers
