Going to be buying an Air Compressor

Looking to get the SIP one from Costco, 4HP 150ltr

I'm not really sure I can run it from my 'old' power supply though can someone tell me from my pic if my power can actually run it?

thats not a lot of help u cant see what amperage the meter is ,some may be as low as 40 amp and the cutout fuse could be the same size or could be larger . also what distribution board have u got and is there any spare ways in it . if the electricity boards gear is only 40 amp ask them to renew the meter and the cutout fuse if they wont just run your gear of it and if it blows there fuse they will up grade and replace free

They might even replace the broken glass in your meter, wouldn't want dust getting in and jamming the works up.

its stamped on the left of the meter that says amps max is it the electricity boards meter or a private landlords supply meter

To the left of the picture it says "A Max", there should be a number to the left of that, e.g. "40 A Max" means 40 amps maximum.

It looks like it might say 60 or 80

Is that board & meter the property of the supply authority or one a landlord has put in to be able to charge his tenants for electricity?

Its the property of the landlord, I paid £14.00 last year for electric. (yes thats actually fourteen) it's not a typo lol.

Just blew up the pic and I'm pretty sure it's 80A.

You can't rely on the supply being an 80A supply if the Landlord's installed it. You'll have to establish what the supply to the building is, how much current your supply can handle and how much is being used elsewhere in the building.

If the landlord doesn't know it's time to call a qualified sparky.

This doesnt answer your question, but that looks very much the same compressor I have....and cheaper

Anyway... I had to wire in a 20 Amp socket from my consumer board and use a 20 Amp 'C' type breaker. A 'B' type kept tripping on startup.
Just some extra info, as I couldnt see it in the writeup.

Overall, I am very pleased with the compressor iteslf

This is what I bought about 20 months ago

At the time the listing stated a 20 Amp supply needed, and I installed the supply accordingly. The listing now describes an 18 Amp supply and the sticker on the motor does says 17.8 Amps.

I have blasted with it using a blasting pot. I found that the compressor keeps up but the pot runs out of air too quick. With 1/4 bsp fittings, the pot doesnt fill fast enough although the compressor has sufficient supply. Its a modification I still need to do, is to up the size of the air fittings so the pot can keep up with the compressor. You will find that the compressor will run constantly whilst blasting. With the uprated fittings I would expect a reasonable ammount of blasting time, but you will still need to let it refill occasionally.

I dont think you will find many machines better (in terms of FAD) that run from 240v

I'm still unsure what blast pot I'll be buying, Not sure what fitting to go with TBH?

Seems like a lot of compressor for the money, anyone got any experience of them? I know SIP dont get a good rep with some but then everyone uses them for different things.

I might buy one myself, I wanted a 4hp but couldn't find much with a 150 litre tank - I dont want 200l or larger.

See, the compressor your after is £550, on page 17 of the Daily Express today Monday New Ideas have one for £169 and another for £90.
I live in Luton, my friend also in Luton saw this AD and tells me he has one for sale for about those prices, he is 91yrs now and says he wont be using it any more, it has a lot of air tools to go with it he says.
Now I know you are not supposed to advertise on the Forum but is there anyone out there interested in this compressor and would you give me some guideance if you are interested.
