Want to develop my welding skills (
) , and get the best from my equipment.Couple of years ago I closed our family business and aquired various equipment amongst which was a Murex Transtig , DC/AC with stick arc, set.
We owned this from new and it never had much use. It has foot control , air & water cooled torches and various other accessories with it.
We used it mainly for welding stainless flanges , pipe fittings etc. Some fairly thick stuff it has to be said , 8mm wall tube into 19mm thick flanges sometimes !!
Anyway , I'm involved in motorsport now and want to learn how to weld aluminium , I've tried to do it but it always ends in a mess !!
I also have a little Snap-On hobby MIG which I can use reasonably well , but I'd like to upgrade to something a bit more serious , would welcome advice on the good units to buy. It was Miller & Lincoln when I last investigated.
I also restore old bikes and service , modify and tune my own cars. Welding is a very useful skill there !!
