Hello all, I'm looking to further my skills and how do I go about it? A very little history.......... About a year ago I was thrust upon an Arc/stick welder due to my current employers needs. A huge international exporting company, leader in it's class by a million miles 50+ mig welders all around me.... Not one of them knew how to use an arc welder. MOAN slightly over... After a month of promised support, i got none..... So i took my own holiday and went to college for a couple of days... Left college with a simple C&G and actually really enjoied myself and the basics I leaned. First thing I noticed is that the arc welder at work is F**KED and can't be adjusted! Anyhow, 1. I enjoyed myself that much I'd like to push on and master it, get coded.... How do i do this? Is it just as simple as more college visits?... and 2. I want to push on and master it get coded, actually become respected for being a good welder... How do i do that? 3. I want to push on and master MMA and leave the company I work for...but be really good at what i do they realise that not supporting is a big kick in the nuts for them!!! Gerrrr!!!

Welcome to the forum:

Training providers vary greatly in their ability to train, cost's and in some cases plans to scam you with worthless courses and promised certificates.

Certificates without work experience are never as welcome as someone who can show some evidence of work.

Ideally, although not easy, find a firm willing to provide the correct training while working, also be prepared to go it alone at times with external courses.

Your local job centre should have a list of proven and trusted training providers for your area.

Thank you for your replies, I guess it's just practice makes perfect. I'll get on and see how much fun i can have in the mean time.
