Hi,

My name is Tom and I have actually been browsing this forum on and off for a while! I am a big fan of making things, and a huge petrol head!

I haven't done any welding for about 6 years, since completing a motorsport engineering college course! Fabrication was probably my favourite aspect of the entire thing, and for a very long time I have been trying to justify the costs of getting myself a welder and a few other choice tools! (until now I have simply purchased parts and bolted things together!)

I am now going to take the plunge and get a Clarke 151te turbo when I finally get my hands on a VAT free code from

Im sure you know there are guys on here that have no need for the vouchers, so offer them up to the forum members. I don't think you'll have to wait long.

Welcome to the forum! Also worth keeping an eye out on the used section here for people selling migs, also don't discount second hand stuff from eBay. You may find you can get more bang for your buck than the Clarke one. (Nothing wrong with Clarke gear but always worth keeping your options open...)

There's plenty of folk on here who are happy to give you advice on buying a used welder if the fancy takes you.

I will keep an eye open, I'm very keen to get the best welder I can for the money, although ideally it needs to be 13A plug top friendly as I have a few friends who are very keen to get some work sorted on a few projects at their houses.
