Thought I'd drop by and say hello.
I've just bought myself a Migmate 150 Turbo DP with the crazy idea of trying to rescue my Mk1 1966 MBG GT from the breakers. I did a welding course a few years ago and thought I could simply pick up where I left off... I was wrong. I'm Crap.
My beloved MG is too precious to me to practice on, so my plan is to find welding projects to improve on until such time as I feel confident to crack on with my car.
The MG needs a new drivers side floor pan, inner and out sill too If only I'd have know that when I bought it
If all else fails I could enlist the talents of my father who was a welder for over 40 years but I'd rather have the satisfaction of doing it myself.
As for the Migmate, the instructions that came with it haven't been much use, so if anyone has any suggestions or tips, particularly the settings on different thickness steel?
Here's a pic of my MG, the reason for my quest to weld..
