Good quality air hose

Hi everyone, after having bought a plasma cutter , I have to buy an air compressor.
But it's a Next month expense .
I have already found an in-line water trap and I'd like to add an air hose to the cart .
I've seen that there are various tipe of hoses , and I'd like to buy the better quality I can .
So I need advice about

I was thinking about one of those but if have a valid option I'm happy to hear it
It will not be used only for the plasma cutter.
I'll make my personal set of air tools in the next future (die grinder,air hammer, etc)

Absolutely anything will do.

Avoid blowing holes in it with your plasma sparks, been there, done that.

Lidl, some time back were selling compressed air lines cheap.

We have airlines at work made from oxy / acetylene pipes, and clear flex water pipes amongst others, if you were stuck, probably garden hose would do ? Probably not a good idea though.

Not too smaller bore (diameter), most air compressors don't go over 8 bar.

I like Alfagomma 185 - Nice hose, light, flexible and affordable. 10mm bore for general use, larger for bigger stuff.
Buy whatever length you need and fit your own ends. I prefer PCL XF (Rectus 25/26) higher flow fittings.

Might actually be easier for you to get hold of it than it is for me given the location.

nice quality hose but i prefer 10mm bore for longish runs for air tools. i use 15mm up to 10 meters then drop to 10

gates r1 hydraulic hose ,,, and the last ten feet in anything cheap ,,, you can trail it round , drop things on it , throw al the sparks you want at it , and it will go on forever ,,, or buy cheap stuff and just throw it away ... these days its battery tool a lot of the time , and when I need air its just off the reel , and it coils back out of the way when not needed ,,

My old one burst the other week, only had it about 30 years and I needed one. Found Screwfix was the nearest and it is a decent quality hose for anyone in UK

I got lucky at the boot sale and scored a 15m length of wire-reinforced 10mm hose about 20 years ago. It was used when I bought it, and it's been indestructible since. There were one or two really minor patches where the outer rubber had been worn off, just a couple of inches, and that was enough for it to find its way to the boot sale. Absolutely marvellous stuff, but it takes a knack to roll it up.

On the other hand the brightly coloured sort of plastic air hose is real good gear, but after 5 years or so seems to take a set and becomes a trip hazard like a giant old fashioned telephone cord, as it will not lay down.

I have some Pirtek rubber hose on one of my hose reels. It's in an open barn and has been on there for 10+ years with no issues. It remains fully flexible in the coldest weather and it without doubt the best airline I have.

I made the mistake of buying that clear pvc air hose once, works great in summer, but when it's mid winter the stuff gets as stiff as a broomstick.

I've tried the rubber ones and they perish and crack - they have all gone in the bin.
I've tried the PVC ones and they are OK when warm, but not very flexible and won't stay flat when it gets colder, I still keep an 8mm one around for spray painting as they are very light and pretty resilient to the overspray.

The alfagomma stuff I now use exclusively as whips on all my air tools and for all my general purpose air hoses - it is a synthetic elastomer, so doesn't rot, has no “memory” so it lays flat, is very flexible and so far has held up well.
I think they do heavier duty stuff if you intend dragging it around all day long, but it has lasted well for me, probably 10 years now. I think a good synthetic material is best, I wouldn't go back to standard rubber or pvc now.

Another thing worth mentioning is coiling them up properly so they don’t get twisted and just pull out straight – makes a big difference when you come to use them.

i got one from them to extend my existing large bore pipe when needed there ok https://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-rubber-air-hose-10mm-x-10m/1583h . just cut the fittings of the and fit m,y own tail and connector
