got a fixer upper, need help though pls

I got myself another compressor, not that i need one at the minute lol. I am unsure of the actual make but its a big ****** at 210l and a 5.5hp motor and single phase 240v. i reckon it must be atleast 14cfm, therefore its good to keep as it will do a lot and more than i will need.
Now the problem is the wireing, i am not sure how to wire it up, here are some pics for you.

And the main box that i need to know where to connect the wires from the mains plug, will i be best to wire upto a 16amp plug aswell. I am rigged up for this with the welder i have, well i am in the process of doing it.

Any help will be gratefull

r u sure that is single phase it looks like 3 phase to me . u wouldnt get a direct on line 5hp motor. and as it says 14 amp max on the pressure switch that would equate to a 3phase load . check the motor plate it probably says dual voltage 415 /240v 3 phase not single hopefully 4 u im wrong but its doubtful

Could well be 3 phase, i cant see the plate on the motor but SWMBO read it to me, well what she could, i did think it was 3 but she said it says 240v then something else LOL, when i looked at the starter i thought it was 3 phase LOL.

Could i fit s single phase to it then, i didnt say but its a fixer upper as the motor has gone, i have seen some 5hp single phase to the same spec as on the motor, 2870rpm, 2 pole.

If not this will be for sale then.

5 hp single phase motors can be obtained but will cost plenty and a 32 amp power feed will be needed. You could drop a high torque 3hp motor on it and accept less CFM.

Yes not cheap them motors are they, i will look at the ones you suggest, i think its going to be in the £00`s so i will get a bit for this to put towards a more sensible size for my use to run of the 16amp supply i have.
