evening.

anyone heard of this or use it??

im after some to make meself a new head gasket, ive tried various types of material but cant find anything as good as this ere grafoil stuff, it has a stainless mesh running through it.

but i cant seem to find a suppliar, any ideas??

might of found a suppliar now, need to have a proper look when im off me hols.
and its about £80 a sheet from what i can make out, not cheap, lol

Try gasket makers for scraps, I used to cut sump and rocker cover gaskets out of scraps.
I had what might well have been the stuff your after from Cloughs Gaskets, they had scraps big enough to cut big block header gaskets out of. We had a problem with header gaskets on something, it seemed to eat gaskets and every few runs a gasket went[the header flanges looked fine]; I went into cloughs and they handed me a large scrap of graphite stuff with stainless running through it. I hacked out new gaskets with a wood chisel and one set of gaskets lasted several years[till the car was flogged].

If its £80 a sheet then would it not be worth while making a copper or aluminium gasket? if you cant buy a gasket, is it for something which parts are not available for?

its for a 80yr old marine engine, only 6 in the country i know of, there are no bits to be found anywhere.
i had a copper/aspestos gasket made, leaks like a siv as do solid copper gaskets.
thats why im after grafiol as i know it works on this engine.
