Gravel grid suppliers?

This may be a bit of a long shot but I know you guys get up to all sorts in your spare time....

Can anybody recommend a gravel grid supplier? I’m creating a fairly large parking and path area (about 80m2) and it seems the biggest outlay is going to be the grids. The best prices I’ve found are on eBay but I thought it was worth asking if anybody had any other ideas/recommendations.

I did my drive and bought the eBay definitely the cheapest stuff by price, its ok for the money and is holding up well looks smart and hold the gravel on the slope


For paying customers i use eco grid it is a better product but wouldn't use it for myself far to exspensive.

I wonder if they sliced them into rings? Either way I think I’d struggle to sell the idea to the mrs!

nope ,, used full , put down as a bed and filled with something like 2 inch , then a fine layer put over the top , it was just to stop the base spreading out , but it was a big scale , you may not have the depth to play with.

You’d need lots of tyres the same with profile. I can see it being a real PITA to lay

it was just car tyres , i guess as it was on a large scale and topped off it wsnt just as crucial , just a good idea at the time , well i thought so.

I know they used tyres to build harbour walls on Jersey years ago , I’ve never thought about constructing roads though.

Hi, See if you can get hold of some plastic pallets, cut the feet off and turn them upside down.

We install a lot of stone filled Geogrid in RPZ`s , its much cheaper than the interlocking stuff and good for 60 ton vehicles.

That looks great, what size gravel did you use? Locally we have a nice grey limestone, I can get it very cheaply in 20mm chippings so I’m going to use that.

Its just below occasionally shows through i just chuck a broom over it, mostly happens from the vehicles

That looks great, what size gravel did you use? Locally we have a nice grey limestone, I can get it very cheaply in 20mm chippings so I’m going to use that.

all i did was used crush and dolomite whacked it down with my diesel whacker plate solid then topped it with 20mm gravel and went over with the whacker again and the chippings go nowhere it even holds water in places dont use small; gravel it picks up in your tire treads

I prefer limestone to gravel - it binds together much better and doesn’t move about

As this thread has been resurrected(!) I can confirm that I used the 20mm limestone chippings in the end and it’s worked well. It looks nice too. I’m thinking about sprinkling some white chippings over the top just to give it a further “lift”, and to keep the missus happy….
