Greetings from Malahide

Hi there,

The names Will, I now live in Malahide, North Dublin, dotIE. (Originally from South Wales )

Have just aquired a SIP P178 Tig machine. Main interest is in stainless steel ( 1.2 or 0.9 mm sheet fab for home brewing projects ( like connical fermenters )

Have also a SIP Migmate MIG and a Sealy stick welder. Have also done some gas welding and a fair bit of silver soldering.

Will start up a thread on the SIP P178 as I couldn't find one. Have a few questions already!!

Looking foreward to some neat welding projects

Welcome to the forum..I had to google what a connical fermenter was and seeing the prices I am not surprised you want to make your own...resembles something from the old bootleg whisky era

Yes I know,

Some places are looking at about €600 or £500 for a 30 litre connical. I appreciate that there are 3 fairly long seam welds but heck if its water tight then great!

I also know that there is "food grade" Tig welding but we also sanitise/wash our kit failrly thoroughly.

A few SS fittings and a simple lid, some legs, then there you go. I was quoted about €90 for a 8 x 4 sheet of 1.2 mirror finish sheet. That would make a few connicals! I have roughed out a spread sheet for connical designs.

Sure we'll see but first I'ver got to stop the hands shaking uncontrollably ( Ok, cut down on the home brew!!)

BTW: It is illegal to brew Poitin in Ireland !! As if!!

its illegal but still going on, and not that rare.
like you i do wine now and then and have done some lager and bitters
