grinding stone differences

im not a smart man.. is there a difference between these 2 things?
the first being the black grinding disc, very rough surface, cuts through welds like butter.
the pink stone, these come in different shapes and sizes which is very useful for getting in tight spots but these are almost so smooth that they dont seem to have the same cutting power. are they even used for weld grinding?
i cant seem to find the black type ones in different shapes.

The black wheel is a depressed centre grinding wheel designed to go on portable grinders (angle grinders). It's very tough, easy to fit and reasonably safe to use on a grinder unless you do something incredibly stupid.

The pink wheel is not designed for such a purpose. It's supposed to be mounted on an arbor on a bench or off-hand grinder. These type of wheels are un-reinforced and much less tolerant of abuse. They tend to explode when treated badly or poorly mounted causing significant injury.

Use the black ones. They are cheap and meant for the job.

You could be right. YOu need a die grinder or and off-hand grinder to get into tight spaces. Or a finger sander.

i think a tungsten carbide burr grinder was the thing i was looking for. they can apparently grind welds and come in different shapes and sizes.
