First thing I noticed is the location of the oil (in between the motor and the fan belt), how do you check it or fill it or even get the lid off? I was looking to see if it actually came with oil in it and still have no idea as I can't get my fingers in to get the lid off.

Mine has an oil level hexagonal 'window' just under the pump logo. Didn't you get a book with it?.

Will check and see if there is a window, haven't had a look at the book yet but there is one there.
Just thought it was an ackward location to get the lid off when it's time to fill it.

Ahh, ok Thanks. Will have a look and see how much it has when I go out again. out of curiosity do these things actually need topped up often or will the run for long enough?

The red dot indicates the minimum level, fill it to the top of the sight glass.

The vertical tube with the red top is the filler/breather. Remove the whole assembly from the crankcase to fill it. There is a ball valve which prevents you from filling it through the breather.

I top mine up frequently because it leaks, just get into the habit of having a look at the sight glass from time to time. Use SAE30 compressor oil.

Ok thanks for this, will have a look at it again today as sparky is coming to wire it up, will get some SAE30 compressor oil ordered as long as I'm at it as well.

When you run it you will notice that air escapes from the small valve near the bottom of the aftercooler. This is normal and will stop when pressure reaches about 20 psi.
