Hard wire converting

Morning, havin just bought a 2nd compressor to aid my blasting needs, iv hit an electrical snag. The compressor was hard wired into a board and so now needs to be convered to be used with a plug, after bobbing on a 13amp plug and successfully blowing 2 fuses in quick succession, il looked into it and got educated in that its drawing a big amp blast to start it, how do i go about making it usable with a plug and can it be used on a generator? Any help is greatful as i dont like electrics at the best of times

You'll need to give more info or a pic of motor plate. I.e. Amps, kw, cfm, etx

^^ You'd be looking at either a 16A or 32A commando plug & socket, and you'll need to make sure the wiring you connect them to and the consumer unit will supply the current.

As Ton-up said we will need much more info to go on.

But as a very non technical guide.
You need a generator so big the only way you can move it is to tow it or move with a forklift, to power things that blow 13 amp fuses on start up.

Ok sorry for lack of info, iv a sip40050 3hp 2.2kw 240v, what other info is helpful, im trying to find a more complete spec sheet as the info on the compressor isnt that clear

I've got one of those and it's a sod for blowing fuses, especially when cold and if the tank isn't empty at start of day.

I changed the mains plug for a 16A commando plug and a suitable MCB in the consumer unit.

Ok fab you're the man if you have one of these! Any clue on what size generator would do the job? Am i right in thinking in that 2.2 isnt a industrial generator job??

LOL I know nothing about generators, but would say this compressor takes a big surge at startup.

This could be why mobile operators use engine-driven compressors rather than a generator/electric compressor setup.

Yeah probs, iv got a bit of open land to do stuff on but its got no power,
