Hello all I need help

Hi people, I have a migatronic Automig 221 It has just developed a fault. I can strike an arc for one weld only. If I make a weld and take my finger off the trigger it won't do a second weld I have to turn the machine off and waite a couple of seconds every time. If I keep the trigger pressed I can stitch weld by doing a weld moving the gun, trigger still pressed do another weld etc but when I take my finger off the trigger I cant do another weld untill In turn the machine off and on again. It seems like the wire feed is acting up. If I don't strike an arc I can pump wire out no trouble trigger on off on off it still keeps coming. But try welding I get just the one weld. It seems only to have two controls wire speed and power setting. Can anyone help?

Just did a quick search for Automig and they all seem to have a spot timer facility, you haven't accidently turned it on?

I've got a habit of catching the speed control with the harness and wondering why the wire feed's stopped!

Hi Robotstar5, I thought they all had a timer too but I have been all over it very carefully and there are no other controls/switchs/knobs. There are the marks for different controls but they have all been blanked off with gromets which look like a factory job. Just looked at the printed circuit board for timer controls there are no little switchs on the back there is one for wire speed and burn back. It doesn't look tampered with.

This could be a control fault on the pcb where the trigger sequence is not resetting after the release sequence for post gas. If this is the problem then removing the power from the pcb, ie. "turning it off and on again" is the only way to reset it.

Check the spot and cycle switch positions are not faulty first.

I have a manual and diagrams for this machine family if you need them.
