My names Tom Bebb im 21 from shropshire on the welsh border, I live on a farm and work for my father as we are agricultural drainage contractors and have been since the 1950s as my grandfather started the business.

As my username suggests I own a Nissan pulsar GTIR which for those of you who dont know what it is, its a small AWD hatchback made between 1990 and 1994 and rated at 220bhp and even todays brand new hatchbacks cant keep up with the little pulsar

Running a family business means most repairs are made by me or my dad so over the years we have collected many tools to do this job incuding welders, oxi/acetaline hand tools and more recently a new workshop.

The last few years I have been interested in 'diy' especially on farm machinery and cars and 3 years ago bought my first project a 1958 fordson dexta which I will post in the project section of the forum.

Welcome onboard. A friend of mine has a Pulsar. He reckons it's not fast enough and wants to supercharge it. I think I'm supposed to be doing the rear wheelarches on it later in the summer - they seem to be a trouble spot.

yeah they all look ok until you take the arch trims off, but to be fair not just because its my car but mine is in very good condition underneath for rust but mine does have a big gash on the rear near the wheel I will post a pic tomoroow of it as for the speed the first month I had mine it was terrifing but now im used to the speed and it doesn't seem fast until I drive my dads van or us car then i miss the pulsar

I miss driving properly fast cars. Throttle pedals should be a control for distance travelled rather than acceleration. My daily driver has only 34hp. Sorry 45hp - I put a Hennessy Hot-Up kit on it.

I'm keen to have a ride in the Pulsar when it's done, but I'll give my friend a few months to get used to it before I dare to go out with him. His looks sound but the outer rear arches are definitely bubbling.

rust isn't the only problem Ive had no end of problems with mine and spent a fortune but slowly theres less problems to solve and finding parts for them is a nightmare

Car projects are get fun.ive been doing mine for 2.5years now.had a few others before.
The only problem is you think there finished but they never are.Tinkering is whats its all about.

Welcome to the forum Tom, from another Nissan nut. Your tractor project`s brilliant, a true credit to yourself, most people your`s/our age couldnt be bothered to spend the time on it.

I know all about it all my mates haven't got any hobbies except drinking and getting laid, and they dont want to learn anything, but its there loss

As for car projects I am currently looking for another nissan pulsar in the next 2 months to start my new project and completely restore it to factory condition but with many new modifications

I dont understand how people can not have a hobby of some sort, what the hell do they do with there time, and do to relax?

Shame you didnt register a month or so ago, someone I know has just scrapped a perfectly good Pulsar rolling shell (only engine and gearbox gone)

I preferably want a pulsar that is in working order but to be fair almost everything will be replaced, as over the last 6 months ive been buying new bits and bobs for it like alternator, starter, master cylinders, bearings etc
