Ive just joined the forum after hearing about it on a car club forum recently and having a look around since then.
Im looking forward to learning a lot and hopefully even contributing a bit.
Im not a professional welder, although have some welding knowledge from work where we have mass production welding machines (exhaust manufacturing). My welding is 99.9% hobby related.
Anyway, to the welding, I have a 210 amp stick set for heavy work, had it for about 15 years, it looked old when I got it, Ive done some quite big jobs with it (for a home welder)
Next is a 150amp SIP MIG, mainly used for car restoration / repair, had it for about 15 years too.
Im going to sound a bit odd but I have no problem with the SIP, Im surprised to learn what a bad reputation they have. I dont know if the old ones were better but Ive done a lot of work with it over the years and cant complain much about it.
Lastly, Ive just got a second hand Newarc inverter TIG, I havent used it yet as I have no Argon.
Im no doubt going to have a lot of questions about TIG once I get the gas.
My first problem is affordable gas.
At the moment Im in the middle of a lot of welding on a car I need on the road soon so will be coming here when its too late for welding.
Cheers
Chris
