Hello all

Hi. I came across the website and found it very informative. I am new to forums so please bear with me if I do it wrong.
Why am I here? I am classic car enthusiast who is competent with a spanner but I have done very little welding. I hope to rectify that on my current restoration. I have a Clarke Turboweld 140EN which I intend to use with refillable bottles. I'm sure I will have lots of questions and need lots of advice as I progress and this seems to be the place to get it. Thanks in advance.

What a friendly place this forum is. This was the baby of the NSU range. 2 cylinder 600cc air cooled engine, not many left in this country and great fun to drive (if you're not in a hurry that is). I.m a bit of a purist so I will return it to it's standard form.

Were all friendly apart from a few, no im joking! Is the engine similar to the real fiat 500/600's? if so i know exactly how slow they are as i used to have a 1963 500 that was so slow scooters would overtake it

Nothing like the Fiat 500. The german engine was far superior to the Italian lump. Compared to the Fiat 500 the NSU is a speed machine. Top speed quoted as 72 mph (116 kph) - honestly! 0-60 in 27 seconds and far mor roomy and comfortable. This is the second one I've owned and they really are far superior to the Fiat in all respects except one. The Fiat 500 now fetches silly money whilst the NSU is forgotten. Ah the fickleness of fashion!!!!!

a good project there good to see it will be restored back to original so many rare cars lost to modifications
