Just joined and have had a good browse around to try to pick up as much info as possible. Looking at buying my first Mig soon and have been trying to find out the best one for my needs and budget. Not too bad at arc welding but getting fed up with changing rods all the time so firstly going to try a gasless mig, and maybe move onto gas at a later date if I feel it is necessary.
Was looking at getting a Clarke 151EN, Clarke Mig180 or a sealey MightyMig 150. Which of these is most suitable for a beginner. Will be looking at welding anything from 1.5mm maybe up to 5mm but if it struggles with the thicker stuff then I can always break out the old arc welder. Thats what is attracting me to the Clarke 180 as it has that little bit more oomph for the thicker steel, but from what I can gather is maybe made of cheap chinese parts and may not have the quality of the 151EN?? Is this correct??
Cheers
