Hi to all,
Been a member for a while, and must congratulate Malcolm et al and all the contrbutors for a fantastic WebSite. Frequently drop in, and find answers to those questions troubling me ... and some that weren't.
I bought a SIP120 Migmate in 1985, and have been welding ever since (but not often enough). The little SIP120 was made before it seems it became justified to chide the quality of SIP's, and has done me well over the years (big wire drive). Over the years, I also picked up a second hand Brtiweld 195A (which has a pretty poor duty cycle at 35%) but I always went back to the little 120 - it's now like an old relative, always there, and just chugs away when called on.
However, a while back I was looking to modify a larger project (Steel Staircase) and decided that I needed something more up to the job. Came across this forum, and through it took possession of a fantastic Portamig 211 from Weldequip. Fantastic advice, and fantastic service, so long overdue appreciation/thanks to Weldequip. The Portamig is a lovely machine ... it must somehow be wrong to get so excited about a welder ...?!
Still use the SIP120, for portability as the Portamig's stat.s make it more stay-at-home. Had to call on Weldequip again recently for a new torch for the old SIP, and was very impressed; he actually managed to get one specially made for me with all the right connections, and have it despatched next day! Fantastic service .
Only trouble is, having looked through the shop, I now want another welder for those jobs where the three I have won't quite do it (something like an ESAB Caddy® MIG C160i, or Inverter Fusion 151MA 110v Arc Welder. Temptation is a terrible thing, Internet shopping is even worse!
Again, fantastic site, excellent advice, contacts, contributors, and shop ... have to go now, need to find some bits of metal to stick together ...
