hello every1 im from kent
i'm looking at doing a course for welding as i want to build my own motorbike frame, i've been asking around to see what the best welder style would be and i keep getting different answers.
Welcome to the forum, do you mean what is the best MIG or are you wanting opinion of MIG against TIG.
Really need some idea of your budget, any other items you may want to weld, future plans etc.
Without that knowledge and considering a new machine for a motorbike frame without spending serious money but still havng a well useable machine I would say a Clarke around the 150amp range.
If you have a few quid floating about a Portamig takes a lot of beating for the price.
just want to know whats better to use a mig or tig
i have about £600 to get a machine
i also wanna to a roof chop on a hotrod and some stuff round the farm

Tig is costlier to use as well as purchase, also probably a bit more difficult to learn.
I would be going for the portamig, it has a low amps setting for thin bodywork and is a quality machine, the problem is farmwork as a rule tends to be in the heavier range of steelwork, the 185 amp is within your budget but may not quite be powerful enough for the farmwork but would be ideal for the car and bike work, the 235amp would be a much better buy considering the farmwork.
