Hello and request for help from another newbie

Hi,

I've just picked up a secondhand Clarke 165E MK2 welder that needs the tip replacing. Do you know if this just unscrews from the swan neck? Reason i ask is the tip is very tight and i don't want to use brute force if i'm doing it wrong.

I bought the welder to do all those little jobs on the kit car i'm building as i think it will be cheaper than paying someone to come everytime i want a bracket adding.

Do you mean the copper contact tip? This should unscrew without too much force. If it dosn't it may have swelled in the tip adaptor (the brass thing the gas shroud pushes onto) and could sheer if you try & force it. Don't worry if it does sheer as you can replace the neck and/or tip adaptor, without having to replace the full torch assembly.

That's seen better days!
I have spares in stock & should be able to fix you up, however, the 165E is an old model so I could do with seeing the other end of the neck assembly. Send a pic to welders@supanet.com & I will do my best for you.
