Hi Folks, I've been reading this forum since before Christmas and I have to say it has been very helpful in my quest to worship at the alter of Weld.
Having spent many evenings reading the site and generally scouring the internet for a suitable welder (for me) I emailed Steve at Weldequip and I am now the proud owner of a Parweld XTM171C which rocked up today. Steve was brilliant and very patient as I bombarded him with daft questions. My desire was for the Portamig but, alas, the budget would not stretch to such a desirable object.
The machine and other bits all pitched up today, as a complete welding novice the first thing that struck me was the size of the machine, we are talking two man hernia kit. If this thing had a camouflage paint job as opposed to the tripy purple (presumably inspired by Prince), it wouldn't look out of place in a parade of military hardware.
Anyway, 10 out of 10 to Parweld for a well presented piece of kit. It comes with all the essential bits and I will post some further pictures and comments once I've had a go with it and checked it doesn't dim the village lights when it flashes up
So, thanks to all you posters and senior welders, artists and general fettlers for the help and a big thanks to Steve at Weldequip for great service and great prices. If you are new to this and looking for kit, look no further for the Alter of Weld is within thy sight
Sorry about the dodgy pics, will try harder next time, one of the welder and some of the kit another one of that, paranoia inducing, wire feed mechanism. Which to me looks ok but I'll let you know.
