Hello at last

I joined this forum many years ago but never got round to introducing myself. I have just retired after working in a heavy engineering company in Newcastle upon Tyne for 48 years in the manufacture and repair of large turbo generators for power stations. I am now looking forward to having a lot more time on my hands and joining in on this forum.

Yes I know but to tell you the truth I forgot I had joined. When I entered my E Mail it said that I was already a member of the forum. Hopefully it will not be another 8 years before I post again.

What sets did you work on???

Been playing around with some old GEC and Alstom sets for the last few years. Got some nice MAN Turbo's which are very german......

I mainly worked on Parsons turbine generators up to 800MW, but latterly GE, Alstom , and Siemens when they bought the factory in Newcastle. I was mainly factory based but did work in some power stations in the UK.

8 years to post! That must be some sort of record. Also welcome to retirement, I retired 5 years ago & haven't looked back. Life's busy, no time to do anything, how ever did I go to work. As I've said on here before, I tell people it's the best job I've ever had, the money's cr@p, but the hours are fantastic.
