Very good helpful webiste, been reading various bits the last few days, ok spent quite a few hours on here, I have bought a 1999 v-reg Ford Transit 12 seater minibus & intend to get it back on the road as an 8 seater.

Want to use the minibus for taking my wife & kids on days out every weekend I am not working/repairing it.

Do not know anything about vans, mechanics or welding but am a quick learner & always up for a challenge

Looking to have it fully mot'd, taxed & insured by 23/02/2012.

I am really enjoying the challenge of stripping it down, so may start a proper project once this is finished, just picked up a couple grinding discs today so you can all guess what I am doing tomorrow

Welcome Ron,Just put my mk5 swb 80 back on the road ,wheel arches,rear doors and sills all prone to rusting ,i'd recommend joining the transit forum as well for van related info.....I would strongly suggest speaking to insurance companies before starting as removing seats etc can be classed as a modification ....any obvious rust?....Gav

Mines done too,and pump turned up ,seems to be better than standard ,without using more fuel

Thanks all for your comments, just edited the date lol.

Added pics to an album on my profile.

Arches are solid, just rear left door bottom, both sills/door step, and a few places on the floor as can been seen in the pictures. Is it a good idea for updated pictures to be added? I know I like pics too

Gonna join the transit-forum as well for any van related stuff I may need help with.

Already checked with insurance companies, they have all said as long as it says x amount of seats on the v5 that is how many is should be insured under. So as soon as I get the v5 from the dvla it will be going straight back with an amendment to 8 seats & then when that gets done & returned I have to register it with transport for london.
